Causes of Hemorrhoids Myths - Don't Listen to These Untrue Causes to a Hemorrhoid Problem

Hemorrhoids are much of a talked about subject in day to day life. It's so embarrassing that most won't ever admit to having one. Since it's a bit secretive there are some myths about the cause of hemorrhoids that aren't actually true.

Myth: Lack of personal hygiene is the cause of hemorrhoid problems.

Personal hygiene is important in the rectal area of the body, but it doesn't actually cause hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids start from the inside as opposed to the outside. Being unclean won't cause a hemorrhoid to start and swell up. It is important to note that when one does have a hemorrhoid personal hygiene is an important element of helping the healing process.

Myth: Spicy foods or black pepper is a cause of hemorrhoids.

These foods don't actually cause hemorrhoids. But it should be noted that if you do have hemorrhoids these types of foods can make bowel movements extremely uncomfortable. This discomfort doesn't actually inhibit the healing process. It's just senseless extra pain.

Myth: Sitting on sidewalks or concrete cause hemorrhoids.

Sitting on uncomfortable objects for long periods of time can be painful, but it can't actually cause a hemorrhoid. There are various myths like this about cold sidewalks and warm sidewalks, but it's still the same answer. Realistically, there is much more pressure being put on the anal region while sitting on the toilet than while sitting down on something hard. Be sure to not sit on the toilet too long as this is a more vulnerable position to be in.

Are you sick of the itching, burning, pain, swelling, or bleeding down there?
